RANCHO NOTORIOUS

The Ranch has been in existence over 20 years and was named after the old Hollywood movie(1954) "Rancho Notorious" starring Marlene Dietrich and Arthur Kennedy . While the horses have been named for the notorious, such as Al Capone, Marlene, Evita, Billy the Kid, Bonnie & Clide, they most assuredly are not! Riders consistently comment on the remarkeable condition of the animals;how well cared for & how healthy & content the Rancho Notorious horses are.Led by multi-lingual, knowledgeable & Aruba friendly guides, the tours are planned for group riding safely & easily to choice destinations through Aruba's unusual scenery.
The horses in Aruba are not the same as the horses in the USA or Europe. They're much smaller; you can compare them with Arabians. At Rancho Notorious the following horse types can be found: Paso Fino, Trocha, Trotton, and the South-American Quarter horse.

We really enjoyed the horseback riding. . . loved recapturing that pioneer spirit.

AFTERNOON . . .
We took a tour of the newly remodeled Renaissance Hotel in downtown Oranjestad
We all agreed, if you want to be where the action is . . . the Renaissance is for you!

We were amazed at the interior of the hotel. A mural standing 6 stories graced the atrium like building. The lobby turned out to double as  a lobby and a  gateway to tons of shopping in a very upscale indoor mall.  A water way looking more like the tunnel of love swagged into the downstairs right from the ocean, directly below the lobby. Boats came every 15 minutes to picked up  hotel guests for an easy delivery to the hotel's very privately owned Renaissance Island.

Lunch on a private island. . . what an experience! We walked amongst the friendly iguanas who seem to beg for camera action. and ate in the island themed, outdoor cafe right on the beautiful white sand. We  enjoyed the Renaissance hotel and beautiful private island.

From the lobby you can see into the mall. This upscale shopping area opens up to the Main street in Aruba.
Also from the lobby you can board a boat to the hotel's private island . ..
Renaissance Island.

Renaissance Hotel
Great for being in the heart of the action!

Don't worry,  there's
a good barrier between us and
this beautiful tiger.

DINNER  . . .
We positively have no more room! Except for Eric, who finds one of the two McDonalds on the Island and gets the taste of home to fill his hollow leg.

We had a feast on the Renaissance Island leaving us only one solution . . . swim hearty tonight and work some of this wonderful food off!

We ended up swimming and watching  the boys playing tennis. Michaella and I shopped in the near by hotels and we relaxed together.

What a perfect vacation!

 . . .  EVENING

The kids went to the Internet Cafe, Patrick and I strolled the beach.
We all decided to stay close to our beautiful hotel at the Raddison
this evening.

AFTERNOON . . . A day of discovery includes a mouth-watering, all-you-can-eat BBQ buffet at one of Aruba’s most spectacular snorkeling sites… De Palm Island. Off the coast of this privately owned coral reef isle, past its wide sandy beach, huge blue parrotfish, dainty damselfish and queen angelfish swim the seas. Through the years these magnificent creatures have become accustomed to curious land dwellers exploring their crystal-clear waters. Feel free to hand feed these tame blue parrot fish, or swim calmly amidst the sea flora, brilliant corals and other marine life. Snuba and Sea Trek combos available. We had a ball and would highly recommend this wonderful day of jeep 4 wheelin and DePalm Island.
