Welcome to this
weeks news on Thailand
from our TravelTalkRADIO

Medical Tourism and one community
in Thailand called Pattaya
TravelTalkRADIO's assignments this
week included a trip to Pattaya on
the shores of the Gulf of Thailand
to interview some of the presenters
and sponsors of this years
Incentive Travel & Conventions,
Meetings Asia (IT&CMA) conference
and the Corporate TravelWorld (CTW)
Asia-Pacific exhibition. As the
keynote ceremonies, training
sessions and networking events began
to unfold, we quickly realized that
the jointly held IT&CMA/CTW program
is probably one of the best managed
business and incentive travel events
we have ever attended. We would like
to thank the executives and staff of
TTG Asia Media, the organizers of
the event, for a superb job. Even
though our coverage of a large
event like
Sandy at the new
Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok
this one can be a very exhausting
task at times, the planning and
management of the show by the TTG
folks made our work that much
easier. Thank you all!
Arriving in Bangkok, we were truly
impressed with the new Suvarnabhumi
International Airport that just
opened in late September. This
expansive, state-of-the-art facility
boasts the worlds tallest control
tower, a trendy shopping mall nearly
a mile long, manicured gardens and
delightful artwork and is slated to
become one of the busiest hubs in
the entire Pacific Asia region. We
found that even the airport hotel
(places usually to be avoided if at
all possible) was an absolute 5-star
rated knockout. The Novotel, an
Accor hotel, is extremely modern,
spacious, quiet, comfortable and
inviting with first rate amenities
and a gorgeous swimming pool
featuring a swim-up bar. Considering
that the hotel and airport opened
just weeks earlier, we felt a sense
of great attention to detail,
skilled management and a caring,
attentive staff. As we prepared to
return home from Thailand, we had
the opportunity to take an even
closer look at Suvarnabhumi
(pronounced Savana-poom) as we spent
8 hours roaming around the airport
terminal and enjoying the Rodeo
Drive-like shopping, soaring
ceilings of glass and steel, large
gardens and courtyards, diverse
restaurant offerings and a truly
international setting of artwork and
gilded monuments. Don't miss an
opportunity to pass through this 21st
century masterpiece. The
Suvarnabhumi Airport will delight
you with its opulent design,
fabulous decor and abundant
services.
Below, you will hear from several of
the movers and shakers in the Asia
Pacific region who attended IT&CMA/CTW
and you will have a chance to learn
more about some of the unique
offerings within this area. The
incentive and corporate travel
markets are alive and growing in
this part of the world. Join me and
meet some of the most interesting
front line people in the travel
industry.

Managing Director
TTG Asia Media Pte Ltd.
Darren and Sandy sit down for a few
minutes to discuss the event and
TTG's role in developing and
organizing one of the finest
conferences in the industry.

Throughout these segments (all
except for Mr. Scott Christopher's
interview) you will
be listening to music by
MRS. KAMALA SUKOSOL and her daughter
Krissie. Kamala is also the owner
and president of Siam City Hotels &
Resorts in Thailand.
We were
honored to attend one of her
musicals in Pattaya at her Siam
Hotel. It was one of the most
exciting nights in Thailand. We
thoroughly enjoyed the evening and
were thrilled when Kamala gave us
all a CD of her music. You can
listen to short audio files of her
wonderful music.
Unlike many entertainers of today,
Kamala does not come from a
particularly musical family. The
daughter of a successful
businessman, Kamala inherited her
fathers innate talent for business,
but her artistic gifts and her
singing abilities are her own.

Realities
In 2004, 3.8 million visitors came to
China for meetings and business while 8.4 million
mainland Chinese travelled to destinations
beyond Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR, for business
and leisure purposes. As
China is a new country generating millions of
international travellers, it is crucial to gain
an understanding of the characteristics and
consumption behaviour of Chinese travellers.
What candestinations and suppliers learn about
the giant Chinas business travel market in order to better
attract Chinese business travellers and increase
their satisfaction?

When the Airbus A380 rolled out in
2005 as the worlds largest
commercial aircraft with a capacity
to seat 555 in three classes or 800
in a single class, it was touted to
bring new standards of comfort and
better economics in an aircraft that
is more environmentally responsible.
Built on a vision of hub airports,
the A380s will ferry masses of
passengers between major airports to
catch connecting flights to their
final destinations over the next 20
years. An analysis of whether this
is how airline passengers will
travel in the future and whether
airlines, airports and travellers
are ready for this giant baby.
