September 24, 2002 -- San Diego, CA -- Travel Talk RadioTM announced today that Robert Sharak, executive director of the Cruise Line International Association (CLIA), will be a special guest on Travel Talk Radio's ONLINE program this Thursday, September 26, 2002 from 9 - 11am Pacific. (http://www.traveltalkradio.com/)

"The word is out: There is a 3.8 percent increase in the number of cruisers in the first half of 2002 as compared to the same period in 2001," Sharak advised when asked recently about the resilience of the cruise industry. "This is due in large part to the thousands of dedicated travel agents who focus on cruise vacations…in fact, 95 percent of the industry's bookings come through travel agents."

"We will be talking to Mr. Sharak about a number of interests, one being the number of ports that are in service as well as the growth of the industry and where the industry goes from here," announced Sandy Dhuyvetter, executive producer and host of Travel Talk Radio. The function of CLIA is to promote the cruise product generically to both the selling agent and buying public. The organization does this through a broad range of activities including travel agent training, public relations and advertising. CLIA's end objective is to raise awareness about the cruise experience.

Travel for the blind and the visually impaired has broken new grounds with new tour operator, Outta Sight Travel. Gary Metzler, co-founder, will also be on Travel Talk Radio’s Thursday show to share insight into this unique specialty tour.

During the regular weekly segment, Top of the Hour News, eTurbo News publisher Thomas Steinmetz provides an interesting overview of this week's global travel news. This week, Dillan Ariyawansa from Sri Lanka Tourism will be
joining Thomas for his report.

On Location Tours founder, Georgette Blau, will also be on this week’s show and will be talking about TV Tours. This specialty tour company offers a bus tour of Manhattan, visiting film locations such as the Friends apartment building, the Cosby brownstone, and the NYPD Blue precinct building. The bus tour also visits locations used on The Sopranos, and Sex and the City among others.

Travel Talk Radio’s regular weekly segment, LEGALLY SPEAKING in Travel & Tourism, welcomes travel attorney Alexander Anolik of San Francisco to discuss current legal issues in the industry. With over 30 years experience, Mr. Anolik has represented thousands of travel agents agencies, tour operators, airlines, cruise lines, discount consolidators, travel clubs, and now, as the industry moves into the high-tech era, he represents several major travel Internet sites. Questions from the audience are welcomed and can be sent to traveltalkradio@yahoo.com or posed via the toll free number during the program 888.327.0061.
