Chowdhury Outlines Goals for 2007
World Tourism Marketing Summit on TravelTalkRADIO

Vancouver, BC, Canada - August 27, 2007 - Joining executive producer and host of TravelTalkRADIO, Sandy Dhuyvetter, this Sunday was special guest Mr. Sujit Chowdhury, Secretary General of the World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS), to discuss the upcoming event to be held in Beijing China, October 28-30, 2007.

One of the primary themes of the summit is to recognize and address the importance of effective tourism marketing at the global level. Leaders of the international tourism industry will meet at the summit to discuss the development of various platforms to facilitate business cooperation in tourism marketing among international partners and Chinese domestics. "The primary purpose of this summit is facilitating a mechanism for joint venture opportunities," Chowdhury said. "It is really a unique forum for international joint ventures, networking and partnerships among tourism executives from all sorts of industries around the world."

Already, delegates from 36 countries have confirmed attendance at this year's summit. Approximately 400 high-level ministries, dignitaries, multi-lateral investment firms, and heads of state from around the world including 150 foreign delegates and 250 Chinese delegates are expected to attend. Among registered attendees to date are the President of Tanzania, the Governor of Hawaii, the Premier of Bermuda as well as its Minister of Tourism, and many other diplomats, C-level executives and world tourism leaders. Total attendance at the event is limited in order to allow extensive, closely knit, high-level networking. "The idea is to bring together top-level decision makers from the tourism industries globally who can decide on the spot so that the highest level of networking could see fruition immediately," said Chowdhury.

China served as the venue for both of the first two WTMS events and Chowdhury explained the reasoning:  "China's emergence as a global tourism partner has been growing at an explosive rate both for outbound and inbound traffic. The country hosted a record 124 million travelers in 2006 and it is estimated that the Chinese tourists traveling to foreign shores will exceed 100 million (per year) in just 12 years...a giant market."

The World Trade University (WTU) Global Secretariat and its Global Partners will present the 2nd World Tourism Marketing Summit (WTMS), hosted by Beijing Tourism Administration of the People’s Republic of China, from October 28-30, 2007, in Beijing.  The third summit will be held in December, 2008 in Busan, South Korea.
