Welcome to this weeks TravelTalkMEDIA newsletter. |
|
I hope this first week of the New Year has started out well for you all.
We are off to a running start as we begin to make our programming plans for the upcoming months. We are excited to announce that the Center for Disease Control and TravelTalkMEDIA will be working together on TravelTalkRADIO each month during 2007. Representatives from the CDC will be regularly appearing on our broadcasts and alerting our audiences to new information regarding health issues for travelers both abroad and domestically. During the last few years we have the opportunity to interview a number of doctors and researchers from the Atlanta-based organization and found the information provided was extremely relevant to our traveling audiences. On our January 14th show, we will begin our regular monthly segments on TravelTalkRADIO with the Center for Disease Control.
We are also happy to announce the expansion of our messages from Department of Homeland Security. Tara Riordan and Alfonso Martinez Fonts Jr. will still be regular participants on our show and we will also be welcoming several additional specialists from DHS to cover topics related to passports, model ports, visa control and much more. Representatives from the US Department of State will also be participating in our upcoming programs rounding out considerations of security and safety on travel. |

We are also excited to welcome SuperClubs back into our family of sponsors. The Issa family, headed up by patriarch, John Issa, created the concept of the all-inclusive resort. Now, with 17 destinations under their belt and newly-renovated Breezes in Runaway Bay, Jamaica about ready to open, SuperClubs offers several brands to choose from offering ideal family vacations, romantic getaways and the ultimate in relaxation and recreation. This week we have Zein Nakash, Vice President of SuperClubs, joining me on the first hour to talk about how SuperClubs is offering to buy your US passport! A very timely offering, considering that on January 23, 2007 all US citizens traveling by air between US and Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean must have a passport. Why not take SuperClubs up on their offer? Thank you SuperClubs!
Yesterday we had a most interesting and wonderful day getting to know one of our hometown neighbors in travel services The San Diego Travel Group. Dont let the name fool you, its not just a regional company, although founded and based in San Diego since 1963, SDTG is a travel management company with a worldwide reach and has recently launched it new corporate travel brand, GlobalPoint Travel Solutions. SDTG leisure travel services make their way to the public through several brand offerings including Carefree Vacations, Wild Women Travel and Vacation-Hotline.com, a new online offering.
After spending 3 hours at the SDTG headquarters in San Diego, Patrick and I walked away realizing Wow these guys are like tops in the country and they are in our own backyard! Listening to an interview with Owner and President of SDTG, Tim Smith, makes you realize why the company has so much pizzazz its pure, simple, comes from the top and spreads across the entire staff. Its a great story and were excited that Tim and Jo Ann Arlen, Director of Leisure Services, will both join us this Sunday morning as we bring you the story behind SDTG and how their organization has defied the economic woes, disasters by Mother Nature, acts of terrorism and the dot.com bubble burst at the turn of the millennium only to have achieved a position among the top 100 largest travel agencies in the United States.
I am also welcoming friend and author Eva Etzioni Halevy from Tel Aviv. Eva will talk about her new book, The Garden of Ruth. Her last book, Song of Hannah, is one of my favorites and you can find them easily at your bookstore or at our TravelTalkRADIO bookstore: www.traveltalkradio.com/books.
Last, but certainly not least, dear friend and colleague, Peter Pantuso, President of the American Bus Association, will grace our programming with a high-energy report on the motorcoach industry and group travel, as well as news about this year's ABA marketplace in Grapevine, Texas later this month. Peter is our expert in motorcoach tour and travel and has all the latest stats on the industry. The studies and surveys are in! You, the traveler, are heading back to guided tours and group travel and the trends are pointing to even more personalized experiences when it comes to seeing the world by motorcoach.
Please join me this Sunday, January 7, 2007 for TravelTalk RADIO.
Safe travels,
Sandy Dhuyvetter |
