November has already been an incredible month and we are barely half way through its short life. Early this month, I was honored to attend the incredible Tourism4Peace forum in Holland with a group of business executives who are the leaders in travel from Egypt, Israel, Jordan and the Palestinian Authority. This conference, sponsored by CHN University in Leeuwarden, turned out to be one of the richest travel experiences I have ever had. I simply fell in love with the faculty, staff and the facilities at CHN and Holland was more impressive than I had ever imagined. If you would like to know more about the Tourism4Peace conference, please see our newsletter dedicated to this very special event at: www.traveltalkradio.com/TTNewsletter_nov03_06.html
In addition, this week my travel news segment on TV at Channel 9 KUSI on Good Morning San Diego focused on the peace forum as well as the next leg of my trip through Europe, Londons yearly exposition at the World Travel Market, the largest business-to-business travel expo in the world: www.traveltalkradio.com/kusi_london_nov11_06.html
Now we are onward to Phoenix and Scottsdale, Arizona this week to the headquarters of Forever Resorts where we will cover the celebration of its 25th anniversary. With over 60 properties in the United States and Africa, we are sure to learn a great deal about Forever Resorts on this trip and we will bring you back some very interesting information on this unique and successful travel business. This is an innovative company that even exclusively manufacturers its own custom houseboats!
I am also delighted to announce that I have been appointed to serve on a newly formed advisory committee at the Department of Homeland Security in support of the Chertoff-Rice initiative known as Secure Boarders, Open Doors. The inaugural committee meeting is in early December and the membership consists primarily of travel and tourism leaders and experts from the private sector as well as from several universities. I will be honored to be associating on this committee with such distinguished fellow members as Roger Dow, the President of Travel Industry of America, and Jay Rasulo, the Chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. This is an opportunity for the private sector to work closely with our government officials as we continue to spread the good word of travel and tourism in the US and extend a warm welcome to our international neighbors encouraging them to visit America. At the same time, we must be ever vigilant that our borders and entry procedures are secure. The committee will be taking a serious, common sense approach to the risks of open doors and, in balance, what challenges that may pose to prospective visitors to the US. It will no doubt prove to be an interesting year ahead working on the policies and regulations at DHS that will directly affect travel and tourism in the US and beyond.
As we enter our final month of the year, we will be bringing you live coverage from some of our favorite regions around the worlds. We plan on providing you with more details about tours to Egypt and the areas where human history was first recorded. Near the end of December, we are planning to travel to Japan to celebrate the wonders of the Japanese winter holidays and New Year.
Please join us everyday as we continuously bring you new broadcasts throughout the week on TravelTalkRADIO and TV as well as on nationally and internationally syndicated programming.
Hope you can join us this coming Sunday for a show that we promise will be one of the best ever.
Safe travels,
Sandy Dhuyvetter |
