Welcome to this week’s newsletter - The Silk Route Race and Expedition -

Talk about a great travel story!  We have been hooking up with Tour d’Afrique’s Henry Gold each week during our first hour of broadcasting, 9:33am pacific time to be exact. Henry and 52 other bicyclists left Istanbul
Aug 4 and plan to be in Beijing Nov 18.

During our conversation today, Henry and the group will be settled into their camp site as it will be past midnight in China. We are happy to report that all is going well on the Silk Route. The group is traveling through the province of Xinjiang and when I chat with Henry, they will be camping in the desert near a town called Kumux.  Theresa, Henry’s assistant told me from their Canadian office she “googled and schoogled” and couldn’t  find any info on Kumux, except for the satellite map above!
Wherever it is, it looks amazing from space!  Henry, will I’m sure, will fill us in on the details!

is gearing up for the 6th annual Tour d’Afrique Bicycle Race & Expedition. They have a record number of participants for 2008, with a waiting list for last minute openings! There are no more Full Tour places left, but there are still a few Sectional places left.  Participants can register at: www.tourdafrique.com
