Phil and Carol White are experts on road tripping.  They have lived and experienced every word of Live Your Road Trip Dream.

They have now spoken to over 1,000 people in such diverse settings as AAA, RV rallies, bookstores, athletic clubs, and community college adult education classes.

Articles about the Whites and their experiences have appeared in many publications including USA Today, The Boston Globe, The San Francisco Chronicle, ABCNews.com, and RoadTripAmerica.com.  They are also frequent guests on radio shows across the US and Canada.

Phil was the small business owner of a men’s clothing store.  Carol retired from Lucent Technologies in 1999.  Both Phil and Carol are graduates of Portland State University, Portland, Oregon. 

When they are not traveling, Phil and Carol enjoy golf, community activities, and most of all, their 8 grandchildren.

Universal Air Travel Plan, Inc. (UATP)

As vice president of Marketing and Communications at UATP (Universal Air Travel Plan, Inc.), Ken Murphy is responsible for developing and implementing global integrated marketing, communications, brand and promotional programs.  The marketing department supports efforts by UATP to increase membership, develop strategic business operations and position the UATP brand as the unifying ingredient for its 15 Issuing airlines and nearly 200 accepting airlines.  Murphy heads UATP’s Member Services Division, a revenue generating branch of UATP.  He serves as the chairman of the UATP Marketing Council, a membership-based group that advises the UATP Board of Directors on marketing and promotion strategies. 

Prior to joining UATP in February 2003, Murphy worked in a number of high-level communications and legislative positions in Washington, DC as: director of communications at the Export-Import Bank of the United States; vice president of Communication at the Federation of American Hospitals; and, a legislative associate at Patton, Boggs LLP. 

Murphy has more than 20 years of journalism, marketing, legislative and public relations experience.  He is a member of the Computerized Airline Sales and Marketing Association Advisory Board (CASMA) and senior fellow at the Council for Excellence in Government. Murphy was an award winning journalist with recognitions from the Associated Press, United Press International (UPI) and the Gannett Foundation. His communications and marketing promotional credits include award winning video presentations, radio programs and Internet Web sites. He worked as a freelance reporter for CBS, ABC, CNN, Reuters and UPI.

Because of his international journalism and marketing experience, Murphy often participates in seminars and symposiums for communications professionals.  He is an active member of the National Press Club in Washington, DC and a member of the International Society of Technical Education.

NEW ORLEANS SIDE TRIP
During the American Bus Association meeting in Nashville, Sandy was approached by businessman and restaurateur Jerry Fein from the Court of Two Sisters Restaurant in the French Quarters, New Orleans. Jerry asked Sandy to come to New Orleans and tell the true story of recovery. He and many of the travel industry suppliers from the Gulf Coast believe that mainstream media are ignoring New Orleans's resilience and resurgence.  Sandy was asked to come into town and report the present state of tourism.

Sandy and Patrick packed up a day early and did what they felt was the right thing. They went to New Orleans to see for themselves. What they found was nothing is stopping the New Orleans's spirit, nothing!. Photos, interviews and a special report will be published this upcoming week.
