Where kids take their parents on vacation

Richard Bourke, General Manager of the Breezes Trelawny Resort in Jamaica

We’ll talk with Richard about his all-inclusive Breezes resort in Jamaica that totally caters to both you and the kids. Let’s face it, when the whole family is on vacation, parents really need enough space to find some time to unwind. Breezes Trelawny is especially designed with that in mind. Plus, there’s tons of great fun stuff you can all do together, too.

A most incredible travel writer

Michael Luongo, Freelance Writer, Editor and Photographer

We’ll talk with Michael about the amazing amount of diversity you will surprisingly find in the Middle East. For example, in the Holy Land, you’ll often hear the call to prayers of the muezzins at dawn followed by the Christian church bells shortly thereafter.  We’ll also talk about what it takes to become a successful travel writer. Listen up and learn from a true pro. Hints: You’ll need to be on a very tight budget, have a “news nose” for stories, and write, write, write. A strong dose of passion really helps, too!

No Starbucks in Italy

Thomas Steinmetz, Publisher of eTurboNews

We’ll talk with our favorite travel newsman live from his boyhood home in Dόsseldorf. He’s just come back from a travel industry expo in Milan and, despite the current problems in the world economy, tourism in Italy is doing very, very well, grazie molto! He lived on espresso the entire time he was there. The pasta was way too expensive and, apparently, there is no Starbucks in Italy!

Hippo Rollers Rock!

Allison Villasenor, Manager of Programs for the Collette Foundation

Imagine walking several miles with a five or six gallon container of water balanced on your head. That’s about 50 lbs or 20 kilos. Now do it carrying a small child on one hip and a sack of grain in the other arm. This is what many women in Africa do every day. Understanding this challenge of daily life, you can begin to appreciate what a godsend the Hippo Roller is and why it is central to a brilliant charitable initiative undertaken by the folks at Collette Vacations.

Kitchen Chinese

Ann Mah, Author of Kitchen Chinese

Kitchen Chinese is the language that Chinese-Americans often teach their children. It’s good enough to do some light chit chat between parent and child, but leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to serious conversation. We’ll hear why this subject makes for a great book and we’ll also find out what it feels like to be a Chinese-American in Beijing where everybody else looks just like you do.
