Joan Gladstone is president and CEO of Gladstone International, a strategic public relations firm based in Laguna Beach, California. The firm serves a diverse client list that ranges from “a” to “w”—including aerospace, automotive, financial, tourism and real estate and waste management.

Joan has 30 years of corporate, agency and government public relations experience. Three years after founding Gladstone International in 1989 she was named one of Orange County’s rising stars by the OC Metro.  In 1996, she received the Orange County Business Journal’s prestigious Women in Business Award for her business achievements and community service. Her firm has consistently appeared in the Orange County Business Journal’s listing of top 25 public relations firms and rose to the sixth-largest public relations firm in Orange County in 2005.

Joan frequently conducts media training, speaker presentation training and other workshops for companies, municipalities and nonprofit and professional organizations.  Over the course of her career, she has taught more than 2,000 people how to manage the media with confidence.

As one of the leading crisis communication and issues management firms in Southern California, Gladstone International handled media relations during the County of Orange bankruptcy and managed regional and national media relations programs related to labor strikes, environmental issues, political protests, regulatory agency investigations, and media investigations.

She has won the national Public Relations Society of America’s highest honor, a Silver Anvil award, for her community relations program on behalf of Koll Real Estate Group and the Bolsa Chica wetlands restoration and development plan.

Joan fulfilled a goal to assist entrepreneurs in getting a successful start when she authored a book, “How to Start Your Own PR Firm,” with her husband Ed Gillow. The book was published by the Public Relations Society of America in 1998 and continues to be a popular seller.  A native of Brooklyn, NY, Joan majored in public relations at Boston University’s College of Communication and graduated summa cum laude. She received her Accreditation (APR) from PRSA in 1983.

She lives in Laguna Beach with her husband, an engineer-turned-actor who has appeared in independent films, on TV and on stage at local playhouses. As avid cyclists, Joan and Ed have participated in two Tour de France events, riding a portion of the route in advance and then cheering on the professional racers. Her account of their most recent journey appeared in OC Metro magazine last year.

Special Reminder - March 5, 2006
Join Sandy at Rancho La Puerta for a LIVE remote program on March 5, 2006

Rancho La Puerta, founded by Edmond and Deborah Szekely, is the original destination fitness resort and spa — family-founded, -owned and -operated. Today’s guests enjoy the very best resort spa experience, shaped by expertise developed over 65 years.

Each week, some 150 guests share 3,000 acres of mountains and meadows beneath 3,885’ Mount Kuchumaa. The peak straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, and
Native Americans consider its slopes and summit a sacred place — so much so that it was the first geographic feature in the U.S. to be named a National Historic
Site by the Department of Interior based on spiritual significance.

Travel Talk Radio believes
T
ravel is a catalyst for creating communication, peace, and commerce among the countries
and communities of the world. It's difficult to fight with a culture where you have shared a glass of refreshment,
visited their neighborhoods and experienced their customs. And besides its really fun to get out there and jump on a train,
bus or plane, walk into a new environment,
taste new interesting food and talk with the locals. Building memories that are packed
with experiences of extraordinary places, great people and exciting events are at
the cornerstone in living a fruitful and harmonious life.
