Rancho La Puerta's motto, Siempre Mejor (Always Better) is reflected in  the spa's impecable treatment of its guests and the mind/body/spirit fitness activities that it provides on a daily basis..


Mount Kuchumaa (below), the great boulder strewn grandfather mountain, is the great energy of Rancho La Puerta.  Beginning at 6:15 a.m., daily hikes are offered to guests.  Two - Eleven miles of hiking trails are available for guests to explore and enjoy.

Each week, some 150 guests share 3,000 acres of mountains and meadows beneath 3,885’ Mount Kuchumaa. The peak straddles the U.S.-Mexico border, and

Our Specialty Weeks are week-long health and fitness programs held in addition to regular classes. Visiting instructors (the finest in their fields) are dedicated to enriching your mind/body/spirit experience. Special Presentations include evening events, guest lecturers, arts and crafts classes, workshops, concerts and more. Unless indicated in the description (i.e. "materials fee"), all our special programs are free of charge, and we encourage you to enjoy as many as possible during your stay.

YVONNE NIENSTADT

Yvonne Nienstadt is Director of Nutrition programs for the world renowned Rancho La Puerta Spa in Tecate, Mexico. She is a recent addition to the staff. Her duties include overseeing the spa's nutritional program, teaching a series of classes in diet and nutrition, as well as offering private nutritional consultations. A long time devotee of the science of yoga, and a certified yoga instructor, Yvonne also teaches meditation, guided imagery and stress management classes.

Coming soon! The Ranch's Spa Cooking School, Cocina Que Canta (Kitchen that Sings) will open in the spring of '07 in a new, 4,500-square-foot facility at our 6-acre organic farm, Rancho Tres Estrellas. Guests can look forward to hands-on classes, delicious meals, and the inspired tutelage of visiting celebrity and restaurant chefs. Come to Cocina Que Canta for a complete cooking school experience -- in the midst of the lilting scents of rosemary and lavender -- and discover new and delicious approaches to healthy cuisine!

Rancho La Puerta is renowned for freshly picked produce and nutritious natural foods. They have developed, tested, and proven hundreds of recipes since 1940. Over sixty years of culinary creativity, experimentation and dietary research have culminated in a superb all-natural diet. It is low in fat, sodium, and refined flour and sugar -- while high in energy, fiber, and complex carbohydrates.

The Ranch's diet, which is lacto-ovo vegetarian, includes a seafood "catch of the day" five to six times a week for dinner, and several times for lunch. (A vegetarian alternative entrιe is always offered for those who don't eat fish or shellfish).
