JACQUIE BURNSIDE

Intrepid Travel creates unique, interactive travel experiences.
Intrepid Travel has a style of travel
to suit just about every level
of budget, comfort, activity
and even cultural interaction in most destinations around the globe.

Being Australian, Jacquie grew up imagining she would one day have an opportunity to travel. A 22 week overland trip in Africa was her  first overseas jaunt and travel seemed to have been in her blood ever since. After Africa, Jacqui was off with a one-way ticket to Nepal from London and would backpack westwards back to Europe overland via India, Pakistan, Iran, Turkey and wherever she could get to with the meager funds she had saved for the trip. Basing herself in London with Europe on her doorstep, Jacqui spent a lovely couple of years popping back and forth to the Continent and exploring to her hearts content.

In 1994 Jacqui discovered Intrepid Travel when she was employed to be a Tour Leader in Asia. This was the beginning of her working life in tourism rather than as a traveler. And what a time it has been..

For almost three years Jacqui shared experiences with Intrepid travelers in Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam before hanging up her (fulltime) trekking boots to work out of Intrepid’s HQ in Melbourne. With time spent in several different jobs and departments (and lots of shorter than she was accustomed to trips to exotic destinations) and after some post-grad study, Jacqui headed offshore to start up Intrepid’s Sales and Marketing office in the US.  Whilst you are now more likely to find her exploring Yosemite National Park or the Rockies, the travel bug has firmly taken hold and it doesn't look like shaking it any time soon

The winning combination of the best value online for quality snorkeling gear, along with a reputation for outstanding customer service allows Snorkel-Mart.com to remain an industry leader.

In 2001 the co-owners of Snorkel-Mart.com, Tom Sutton and David Morgan, applied their combined experience of 35 years in the recreational dive and snorkeling industry and designed a durable, functional line of snorkeling equipment brand named Deep Blue Gear.  Their products were immediately recognized as the benchmark rental gear in the Caribbean by resorts and dive/snorkel tour operators alike.

Over the next two years, the Deep Blue Gear brand steadily evolved beyond its rental gear roots into a full range of retail snorkeling products.  In 2003, identifying a void in the marketplace and recognizing the opportunities of selling Deep Blue Gear products directly to consumers via an internet retail store, Tom and David created Snorkel-Mart.com

Snorkel-Mart.com shook up a sleepy
retail industry by providing the solution to consumers’ needs:  Better snorkeling equipment at exceptional prices.  The company made online shopping for snorkeling gear easy and fun, incorporating a user-friendly web site and providing unmatched customer service.  Based on customer feedback, today tens of thousands of happy Snorkel-Mart.com customers continue to spread the word singing the praises of their Deep Blue Gear snorkeling equipment, often coming back for more.

Snorkel-Mart.com’s popularity exploded after the company introduced the widest range of affordable prescription lenses on
the affordable prescription lenses on the market, making it quick and easy for customers to get fitted with a mask that allows them to see what they’ve been missing underwater.

Vittles and Vines
By Patricia Kutza

Using my wine glass as a lense, I stood on the grounds of Michel-Schlumberger Winery and peered at the sun-dappled ridges of the Dry Creek Valley.  A W.C. Fields-ism came to mind:  “I cook with wine”, he was purportedly to have said, “and sometimes I even put some in my food.”   My sentiments exactly, I murmured into my glass, munching on another bit of walnut and thyme crusted roast pork tenderloin.

Making my pilgrimage to the Sonoma County wine region during the first weekend of November is now a yearly ritual.  One that I share with legions of other wine lovers who also look forward to this slice of  Northern California bacchanalia.

Over fifty wineries in the Russian River, Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys host special wine/food tastings during the Wine & Food Affair.  This colossal  wine-a-thon draws a lively crowd, attracted to the incredible fall color display, wide range of available wines and intriguing food samplings.

When my Wine & Food Affair brochure arrived I was transfixed between joy and agony.  Do I dare miss Lamb Shanks Braised in Alexander Valley Sin Zin (Alexander Valley Vineyards) in favor of Corn and Smoked Chicken Chowder (Mazzocco Vineyards)?  I finally charted a winery path where I could sample the Raspberry Zinfandel Jam and Goat Cheese Crostini (Fritz Winery), Veronica’s Zinfulicious Brownies (De La Montanya Winery) and Coconut-Lime and Tiger Prawn Soup (J Vineyards & Winery).

Goway Travel

Since 1970, Goway has been providing unforgettable travel experiences to Asia, Africa, and Down under. Today they offer a wide choice of travel ideas to more than 40countries.

To GOway, anywhere in the beautiful South Pacific is "Downunder" ... Tahiti, Fiji, Cook Islands, Samoa, Tonga, Hawaii, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and the island continent of Australia.

Africa offers an astounding array of contrasts: from the serene beauty of South Africa with its golden beaches, excellent wineries, dramatic coastline and national parks; Zambia and Zimbabwe with the inspiring Victoria Falls; Botswana with the Okavango Delta, a nature paradise; to the open plains and sand dunes of Namibia. In equatorial East Africa, Kenya and Tanzania have vast savanna grasslands and snow clad mountains and Rwanda has gorillas. Egypt offers ancient civilizations, Tunisia, fabulous Mediterranean beaches and Morocco beckons with its mysterious Kasbahs.

Goway Travel is a USTOA member. This automatically puts them in the top 2% of all tour operators. We highly recommend using USTOA member products and services

T
ravel is a catalyst for creating communication, peace, and commerce among the countries
and communities of the world. It's difficult to fight with a culture where you have shared a glass of refreshment,
visited their neighborhoods and experienced their customs. And besides its really fun to get out there and jump on a train,
bus or plane, walk into a new environment,
taste new interesting food and talk with the locals. Building memories that are packed
with experiences of extraordinary places, great people and exciting events are at
the cornerstone in living a fruitful and harmonious life.
