SAN FRANCISCO!
The Hills are Alive
with the Sounds of
Festivals
During our August
28th broadcast I
mentioned a host of
festivals happening
around Northern
California. If you
didn't get to catch
the Vallejo
Jazz, Art and Wine
Festival
last weekend, don't
fret. It's a
long-standing affair
(this year was the
12the annual) and I
suspect that next
years' will be even
better yet
CLICK
HERE.
Fortunately the
Kaiser
Permanente
San Francisco
International Dragon
Boat Festival
is also a
reoccurring event,
so I will give you
another headsup next
year about this
wonderful venue
CLICK
HERE.
For sheer drama and
excitement, it's a
must-see! And for
shutterbugs,
it offers phenomenal
photo opportunities!
As I mentioned,
Labor Day weekend is
a festival-goer's
heaven.

There's the
Sausalito Art
Festival
(Sept 2-5).CLICK
HERE
featuring the creme
de las creme of Bay
Area artisans
as well as top
flight music and
scrumptious food.
Down the Peninsula,
the Millbrae
Art & Wine Festival
(Sept 3-4)CLICK
HERE
will feature 300
craftsmen as well
as beer and wine
gardens, jugglers
and storytelling.
And East Bay folks
only have to travel
to downtown Oakland
for a free
celebration, the
Art & Soul Festival,
where dancers,
musicians,
filmmakers and
authors
will
entertain festival goers
(Sept 3-5)

Mark and Lisa Peters have been to every
state in the U.S plus eighty-one
different countries in the world to
date. Mark used to keep a log of their
travels on a map, using regular
pushpins, which looked rather tacky.
Consequently Lightravels was born.
The rest is history . . . .
Ingenious, fun, well
executed and a great gift idea for all
your friends who have maps on their
walls and who currently use push pins to
point out traveled destinations.

all gone.

I spoke
to Chris
on
Saturday,
the 3rd
of Sept.
While
spending
a good
ten
minutes
on the
phone,
he was
amazed
how long
we were
able to
keep the
connection
going.
It is a
very
hard
situation,
they are
without
all the
essentials
of
living.
Chris
spends
his time
desperately
trying
to
locate
people
and
contribute
what he
can with
boats
and
labor.
We will
try to
find him
for a
report
on what
is
happening
in his
life
these
dark
days of
recovery
in the
Gulf
Coast.

In 2004
TravelTalkRADIO's
Sandy
Dhuyvetter
and
Patrick
Peartree
went to
New
Orleans
to take
part in
a clean
up and
restoration
effort
at the
oldest
cemetery
in the
city
called
No. 1.
If you
remember
the film
"Easy
Rider"
you will
remember
the
scene
that was
filmed
in that
actual
cemetery.
It was
one of
our
memorable
travel
experiences.
The dead
in New
Orleans
are
buried
on top
of the
ground
Besides
being
with our
colleagues
of over
300
travel
industry
experts
we also
took a
day to
discover
the
swamps
of
Louisiana
with
CHRIS
SMITZ.
Chris is
one
passionate
guy
about
his
gators
and
swamp
tours.
He
showed
us
plantations,
gators
and
scenery
only
seen in
this
remote
area
about 50
miles
outside
or New
Orleans.
