Each year, Sandy and her crews cover some of
the best travel stories in the world.
Here are the highlights for the past 12
months:

December 2006: This turned out to be a big TV production month
for us as we
visited several
Southern
California
destinations
including the
brand-new South
Coast Winery
Resort & Spa and
one of the first
wineries in
Temecula Valley,
the Thornton
Winery.
TravelTalkMEDIA
announced the
addition of HDTV
capability and
launched its
newly redesigned
www.TravelTalkMEDIA.com
Web site.
Meanwhile, Sandy
was very busy
appearing on
Good Morning San
Diego on
Channel 9 KUSI
TV every
Saturday
bringing her
travel news
segments to
eager audiences:
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/traveltalktv_index_06.html.
In early
December, Sandy
traveled to
Washington, DC
to formally
accept her
appointment to
the newly formed
Secure
Borders Open
Doors
Advisory
Committee
jointly created
by the US State
Department and
the Department
of Homeland
Security. This
initiative
includes experts
from the tourism
industry, health
care, academia,
and the private
sector who will
provide advice
and
recommendations
to DHS and DoS
on efforts to
maintain
national
security while
at the same time
increasing the
welcoming nature
of our ports for
the 45 million
(and growing)
foreign visitors
to the United
States each
year.
Secretary
Michael Chertoff
spoke to the
committee about
the challenges
and
opportunities of
creating a
welcoming nation
while at the
same time
keeping US
borders safe for
all. Specific
issues to be
considered by
the committee
include
visa issuance
procedures, visa
waivers, new
passport
requirements,
data tracking,
human interfaces
for positive ID
verification,
and model port
of entry design.
Guest appearance
by many
specialists from
DHS and DOS in
these areas will
be featured on
TravelTalkRADIO
and TravelTalkTV
during 2007 and
on into 2008.
The
TravelTalkRADIO
team also was in
Las Vegas in
December to
cover the 8th
annual Luxury
Travel Expo at
the Mandalay Bay
Convention
Center. This
extremely
popular and
well-managed
event focuses
exclusively on
high-end, luxury
travel and has
become one of
the premiere
travel expos in
North America.

November 2006:
Perhaps one the
very busiest
months in
travel, November
2006 proved to
be no exception. The month began with a 9-day trip to Europe with our departure from San Diego to
The Hague and at
CHN University
in Holland to
participate in
the annual
Tourism4Peace
conference.
Tourism4Peace is
a group of
private sector
travel industry
experts from the
Middle East who
are dedicated to
achieving a
lasting peace
through the
joint promotion
of travel and
tourism in the
Holy Lands.
Representatives
from Egypt,
Israel, Jordan
and the
Palestinian
Authority are
all members.
Sandy was
honored to be
the only media
representative
invited to the
event as well as
the only
American. Among
many notables in
attendance at
this conference
were Raed
Saadeh,
President Arab
(Palestinian)
Hotel
Association,
Rafi Baeri,
Vice President,
Marketing and
Sales, Dan
Hotels, Israel,
Janos Damos,
Executive
Director, Israel
Hotel Managers
Association, and
Abdul Hakeem
Al-Hindi,
Managing
Director
Jordanian
Hospitality &
Tourism Co.,
also Assistant
Chairman of the
Board of the
Jordan Hotel
Association. The
group’s vision
is to increase
opportunities
for peaceful
co-existence
between these
nations through
their joint
initiative to
promote
cross-border
tourism and the
commerce that
naturally
follows. Also
joining us in
the Netherlands
and on our
TravelTalkRADIO
show was our
dear friend,
Michael
Stolowitzky,
President of the
American Tourism
Society (ATS),
an organization
dedicated to
bringing the
world closer
together through
tour and travel.
From The Hague,
the
TravelTalkMEDIA
team went on to
Leeuwarden in
northern Holland
for meetings at
CHN University,
perhaps the
largest and most
prestigious
hospitality
university in
the world. From
Holland, it was
on to the second
largest travel
exhibition in
the world, the
World Travel
Mart (WTM) held
annually in
London where
Sandy presented
a lecture at the
first annual
WTM-China
Contact
conference on
bilateral
tourism
relations with
China.
TravelTalkMEDIA
has been very
fortunate to
work closely
with China
National Radio
and the Voice of
Jinling
Radio-Travel
Radio in Nanjing
for the last two
years. Sandy
spoke at WTM
about the use of
new technologies
and convergent
media in travel
and tourism and
how this will
impact China.
The WTM-China
Contact
conference was
very timely as
the global
interest in
China is
continuing to
rise in all
sectors of
travel and
tourism. WTM and
Roy Graff,
Managing
Director of
ChinaContact,
were the
organisers of
this conference.
Roy spent many
years in China
before coming to
the UK to start
China Contact.
While at WTM,
Sandy toured the
expansive
exhibit floor of
this massive
travel expo to
learn about the
latest in travel
products and
services and
visited with
reps from
destinations
around the
world. Sandy
broadcast LIVE
from London
during WTM with
long-time friend
ad colleague,
Mike Mendoza,
presenter of
Through the
Night on
talkSPORT.net,
the largest
commercial radio
station in Great
Britain. Among
the experts
joining Sandy on
TravelTalkRADIO
this month were
Kevin Smenken,
President and
CEO of
AblePlanet,
Patrick
Peartree,
Vice-President
of Programming
at
TravelTalkMEDIA,
Fiona Jeffery,
Exhibition
Director of the
World Travel
Market, Greg
Lawson,

all inclusive
resorts.

October
2006:
This is always a
busy month in
the travel
industry
so, for
starters, Sandy
flew to San
Francisco to
attend the
annual
California
Travel and
Tourism
Commission’s
Media Reception
at the AT&T
Park, home of
the San
Francisco Giants
professional
baseball team.
This is an
annual
opportunity to
get a close look
at a showcase of
new travel and
tourism products
in California as
well as many
refreshed and
refined
offerings. While
in San
Francisco, Sandy
stayed high
above The City
at the wonderful
Hotel Nikko in a
cozy, well
laid-out room
that is infused
with a simple
Asian influence.
If you like to
be in a room
with great
chi,
(energy, “vibes”
and harmony),
this is the
place. Sandy’s
first broadcast
of the month was
live from our
studios in San
Diego. As
always, Sandy
highlighted and
promoted one of
the travel books
she has
personally
enjoyed. Author
James
Kaiser
was on the show
with his
intriguing guide
to Joshua
Tree National
Park.
TravelTalkRADIO
listeners won
free copies of
the book by
calling in
during the show
and by writing
Sandy an email.
Sandy also
welcomed
Bob Rauch, General
Manager of the
Homewood Suites
by Hilton in Del
Mar, California.
Tara
Riordan
of the
Department of
Homeland
Security also
appeared for her
monthly update on
the government's
newest travel
regulations
as well
as Gay
Gerlack,
a business woman
who was
especially
impressed by the
features,
practicality and
ease of the
revolutionary
new TUTTO
luggage, the
official luggage
of
TravelTalkRADIO.
For more
information on
TUTTO, visit our
special page at
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/tutto.html
Also joining
Sandy in the
early part of
the month were
Darla Cook,
Vice President
of Public
Relations for
Forever Resorts,
David Heidel
and
Tina Rayner,
Level 3
Directors for
Coastal
Vacations,
Barbara
Whitaker,
Author of
Have Dog will
Travel,
Chip Caruso,
President of
Travel Industry
Shows,
Mike Mendoza,
Talk Radio host
from talkSPORT
Radio in the UK,
and as always,
Sandy was
delighted to
welcome
Gary Murphy,
President of
BRENDAN
Worldwide
Vacation.
Then the TTR
team took off
for Pattaya,
Thailand to
attend two
important
conference-expos
focused on
business travel
and corporate
incentive travel
in the Pacific
Asia region. The
shows, held
concurrently in
the same venue,
are the
Incentive Travel
& Conventions,
Meetings Asia
conference
(IT&CMA) and the
Corporate Travel
World (CTW) Asia
expo. The events
attracted nearly
2,000 delegates
indicating that
there is great
interest in the
current and
future growth of
the
multi-billion
dollar market
for business and
corporate travel
in this part of
the world.
Together, the CTW
and IT&CMA have
become one of
Pacific Asia’s
premier business
travel and
incentive travel
shows and
represent a
powerful venue
for examining
the present and
future of
travel. While in
Thailand, Sandy
had the
opportunity to
interview, among
many other
esteemed guests,
Darren
Ng,
Managing
Director of TTG
Asia Ltd, the
organiser of the
expos, and
Suzanne
Fletcher,
President and
CEO of the
National
Business Travel
Association
(NBTA). For the
complete story
and to listen to
these and many
other
fascinating
interviews go
to:
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/Thailand_news_oct06.html
and
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/TTNewsletter_oct19_06.html .
During her stay
in Pattaya,
Sandy also was
delighted to
have the
opportunity to
interview some
of the medical
department heads
and hospital
administrators
at the Bangkok
Pattaya Hospital
(BPH). This is
truly a state-of
the
art-facility, a
five star hotel
among hospitals,
amply staffed
with fully
trained and
experienced MDs
and a highly
professional
nursing staff.
Perhaps equally
important is
that, from the
nursing staff to
the highest
levels of this
physician-run
management
environment,
these folks are
all truly caring
and attentive to
their patients’
needs in a
timely and
gentle fashion.
Imagine: You
need a little
elective
procedure and,
after traveling
to this exotic
land and having
your little
“fix-up”, you
rest and recover
peacefully for
the next week in
a tropical
paradise with
azure seas and
some soothing
beverage in
hand. Perhaps a
light spa
treatment is in
order? This all
becomes even
more enticing
when you know
that the costs
of this trip are
half what you
might pay in
your own home
country,
especially the
US. Well, let’s
just say that,
when Sandy came
back to
California, she
was so impressed
with BPH, she
shared her story
with her on TV!
Check this out
and, if you
like, we’ll plan
on bringing you
more on the
rapidly
developing niche
of medical
tourism soon!
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/KUSI_Thailand_oct06.html
One show that
was a huge
favorite for the
listeners who
fondly remember
the Lennon
Sisters of
Lawrence Welk
fame also
occurred in
October.
Janet and Kathy
Lennon
joined Sandy to
talk about their
new creation,
Best Pals.
TravelTalkRADIO
featured the
music of the
Lennon Sisters
throughout the
show. Best
Pals is the
Lennon’s brand
new line of
dolls and music
CDs. The Best
Pals soft
cloth rag dolls
are exact
replicas of the
original dolls
created and hand
sewn by their
grandmother,
Nana, and
mother, Sis
Lennon, for
Kathy and Janet
when they were
young girls. For
more information
on this great
Christmas gift
idea, listen to
the Lennon
Sisters
interview with
Sandy on our
website at
www.TravelTalkRADIO.com/archives_oct22_06.html#1005.
Sandy also
welcomed
Michael McCann,
President of
McCann
Protective
Services,
Marty
Essen,
Author of
Cool Creatures,
Hot Planet,
and
Scott
Gold,
General Manager
of Mormon Lake
Lodge, Arizona.
Bringing the
month to final
CLI-MAX (pun
intended), Sandy
had the pleasure
of interviewing
a world-renowned
artist,
philanthropist
and world
traveler,
Peter
Max.
Every US boomer
well knows and
loves this man
and his art.
With paintings
on display in
hundreds of
museums and
galleries
worldwide, the
vibrant colors
of Peter
Max
have become part
of the fabric of
contemporary
culture. Peter
Max spoke about
the influence of
travel on his
art and
announced his
upcoming
exhibitions in
Laguna Beach,
California on
November 10th
and in
Newport Beach
on November 11th.
Also joining
Sandy was
Scott
Fifer,
Executive
Director of the
TunaHAKI
Foundation.
Scott created
this
organization to
provide
self-sustainable
futures for
orphaned and
vulnerable
children. The
author of the
week was
Kari Eide
with her book
The Fit Traveler
that includes
(inside the
book!) an
exercise band to
stay fit on the
road, allowing
you to do your
workouts in your
hotel room or
even in an
airplane! Don’t

in the world.
Stay tuned!

AUGUST 2006:
This month as
TravelTalkRADIO
celebrated the fifth
anniversary of
broadcasting, Sandy
was proud to
announce that
TravelTalkRADIO
continues its
worldwide
syndication with new
affiliate station
CHOICE FM, 102.3
FM in Accra, the
capital of Ghana,
Africa. CHOICE is
also referred to as
The Nations
Heartbeat and is
rated the Number 1
talk radio station
in Ghana. CHOICE FM
is a great market
for TTR programming
as the 11 million
people within the
broadcast area are
choosing to listen
to English-speaking
programming in
record numbers. We
broadcast live from
4pm to 6pm local
time in Ghana (Noon
to 2pm, Eastern) and
encouraging call-ins
from the region.
In our programming
this month we surely
hit a chord for
wherever your
interests are in
travel. We had an
all-star lineup
that’s the Who’s Who
of experts in all
aspects of travel
and as always we are
excited to share all
of these wonderful
people with you.
Tara
Riordan from
Department of
Homeland Security
joined us for her
monthly update on
U.S. travel and
security. Tara gave
us an update on the
actions that the
government is taking
to protect the
citizens and to keep
air travel safe and
secure in regards to
the recent terrorist
plots in the United
Kingdom. Also
joining Sandy were
Darla Cook,
Vice President of
Public Relations for
Forever Resorts.
Forever Resorts has
43 properties across
the US and in Africa
and is getting
bigger by the month!
TravelTalkRADIO will
be bringing you
coverage of the
Forever Resorts
conference in
mid-May from
Scottsdale AZ. Also
joining Sandy was
Michael Stolowitzky,

soon journey
together to Croatia
in November as the
American Tourism
Society continues
its important
mission of “bringing
the world together”.
Al Baccari Jr,
Author of
Fisherman's
Wharf was also on
the show. This is a
very special book
and a must if you
live in the San
Francisco area. We
had several other
gifted authors on
the show this month
like Carole
Terwilliger
Meyers, Author of
Weekend
Adventures in San
Francisco & Northern
California,
Nadine Nardi
Davidson, Author
of Travel with
others without
wishing they'd
stayed home, and
Toni Summers Hargis,
Author of Rules
Britannia. You can
always learn more
about the books and
the authors
featuring on
TravelTalkRADIO by
visiting our
bookstore at
http://www.traveltalkradio.com/books.html
Once again Sandy was
delighted to
welcome David
Heidel from
Coastal Vacations to
the programming.
David joined us
several times this
month to talk about
how you can create a
home-based business
allowing you to both
travel AND make a
living! We also had
the pleasure to
listen to Margrit
Eichler's
wonderful music.
Margrit is the
leader of the True
Margrit band and a
great singer,
songwriter and piano
player.
Also joining Sandy
on the show was
Scott
Lindstrom-Dake,
Owner of Thumbprint
Cellars in
Healdsburg. Scott
told us more about
the Northwest Sonoma
County and this most
picturesque
grape-growing region
in California. Sandy
attended a private
screening at a huge
Hollywood studio for
the new movie
HighTech Monorails
by talented
filmmaker, Rob
Kelly. Talk
about eye candy! Rob
is the owner of RAK
Productions and was
on the show
discussing why
monorails have never
caught on in America
after all these
years and if they're
finally ready to
become the answer to
skyrocketing fuel
prices and the
gridlock and mayhem
on US freeways.
Al Perdon,
Executive Director
of the Orange Line
Development
Authority also
joined Sandy to talk
about high-speed

two dear friends
from Nanjing, China:
Guo Chengtao,
supervisor of the
Travel Radio
division of JiangSu
Broadcasting
Corporation, and
Ruoyi Liu, Travel
Radio’s head
reporter and editor.
Sandy first met
Ruoyi when the
TravelTalkRADIO crew
was in Nanjing with
the World Trade
University two years
ago. While Sandy was
in Nanjing, she also
had the opportunity
to visit the tomb of
the late Dr. Sun
Yat-Sen, a very
beloved Chinese
leader who is often
regarded as the
George Washington of
China. In Chinese
history he is known
as "The Father of
the Revolution" or
"The Father of the
Republic." In the
West he is
considered the most
important figure in
Chinese history in
the twentieth
century. As a
revolutionary, he
lived most of his
life working
tirelessly for
nationalism,
democracy, and
equalization. During
his lifetime, Dr.
Sun Yat-Sen studied
in many cities in
the USA including
Washington DC, New
York, San Francisco,
Los Angeles, San
Diego and Hawaii.
The TravelTalkRADIO
team joined JiangSu
Broadcasting
Corporation in
celebrating the
140th anniversary of
the birth of Dr. Sun
Yat-sen by following
along in his
footsteps in the
United States. At
the end of the
month,
TravelTalkRADIO and
the Voice of Jiangsu
Radio from Jiangsu
Broadcasting
presented a plaque
to the Dr. Sun Yet-Sen
Foundation Los
Angeles Chapter to
honor the life of
this special man at
a festive occasion
of cultural
exchange.

July, 2006: After some
very busy months with travels in
Ireland, Ghana, Israel and more,
Sandy and the TravelTalkRADIO
team spent most of July in San
Diego, California. It
might seem ironic, but during
the summer the TravelTalkRADIO
staff travels the least. After
putting more than 500,000 miles
under our belts to promote
travel this yea, hopefully,
we had successfully encouraged
everyone else to travel during
their summer vacations and, in
fact, record numbers of
people are traveling and
crossing borders into different
regions and cultures this
season. Sandy welcomed some
great authors this month with
Cynthia Langston, Author of
Bicoastal Babe, Eric
Masterman, Author of La
