TRAVEL TALK RADIO's
TALKIN STORY HAWAIIAN STYLE

Join
Sandy Dhuyvetter as she brings DARLYNNE REYES to TalkStory. Darlynne continues one of the great traditions and experiences of Hawaii called ‘Talk story’.  So what is ‘talk story’? It’s just two or more people sharing stories from their lives and it can happen anywhere... the grocery store, the street corner, the beach, at the mailbox, ... anywhere.

You don’t have to know someone to talk story. All you need to do is slow down during your daily activities, take the time to say hello to the people you interact with, and before you know it you’ll be talking story.

Talking story is sharing stories, history, ideas, and opinions. You will learn about the other person, their culture, family traditions, and about life in general. Great wisdom is shared during talk story... try it and see what you learn and see how relationships develop in your life. You’ll find you have connections with people you never knew about and you’ll find little miracles popping up everywhere.

You can talk story on the mainland and other places in the world, too... it just sometimes takes a little more effort and a little more time for people to adjust to being talked to. Folks get used to a lifestyle of rush, rush, no time to talk and then when someone actually takes the time to speak to them, they are taken by surprise.

In Hawaii, taking time for talk story is just a normal part of life... you start out on errands and never know exactly where you’ll end up or what time. Life is much more fun and exciting this way... even if it seems less efficient! All the little miracles between folks is where the magic happens! Make a little magic, talk story!

About Darlynne:
From the time she was a little girl, Darlynne loved to travel. Since her father was an Army officer, her family would move every several years. By the time she was eight years old, Darlynne had already traveled to Germany, Switzerland
and Austria.

Darlynne was born in Fort Dix, New Jersey and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Speech Communications from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown. After college, her first on-air reporting job was in Lebanon, New Hampshire. From there, she went on to KYW-TV in Philadelphia, Group W NEWSFEED in Washington, D.C. and KFMB-TV in San Diego. Although Darlynne enjoyed field producing, she wanted to report; she accepted an offer at KDCI News, Adelphia Communications in Carlsbad, as their News Director and main anchor. In addition to her Adelphia gig, Darlynne also freelanced as a reporter for KTNV in Las Vegas. She does voiceover work and has landed several acting roles in local TV shows and movies. Her favorite movie project was a brief scene with Catherine Zeta Jones and Dennis Quaid in “Traffic.”

Darlynne has received numerous awards including a San Diego Press Club Award for investigative reporting, and a “YMCA Friends in the Media Award.” Most recently she received a Golden Mike Award for “Best Business and Consumer Reporting” from the Radio & Television News Association of Southern California. She was the 2003 co-chair for the Asian American Journalists Association Convention and sits on several boards including Mayor Dick Murphy’s Asian Pacific Islander Advisory Council and Pacific Islander Festival Association. She also hosts a syndicated radio and internet travel segment called “Talking Story, Hawaiian Style with Darlynne Reyes.”

In her spare time, Darlynne enjoys biking, hiking, gardening and going to the movies. But her favorite thing is spending time at her beach house with her husband Marc. Darlynne feels very lucky to be at Fox News and is looking forward to reporting unique stories for the San Diego viewers.
