The Traveling Experience
By Sandy Dhuyvetter

"It is with great pleasure that we bring you the spectacular country and people of Tanzania in Eastern Africa. We spent five days visiting three National Parks and many hours interviewing Tanzania’s experts in tourism and wildlife conservation, including the people of the land called the Maasai.
In fact, we developed over six hours of radio programming while there. While in Tanzania, we were blessed with incredible sights of spectacular wildlife, the opportunity to meet some of the most hospitable of people in the world and the experience of staying at many of the finest lodges in the national parks of Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Lake Manyara.
These kinds of travel experiences accentuate the words of St. Augustine when he said, “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page." Yet today, there is much to keep people home..."

Bettie Loibooki accompanied us throughout four National Parks and worked tirelessly from sun up to sun down to make sure we had the best vantage for our cameras. Starting with sunrise drives throughout Serengeti to late night safaris at Lake Maynera to the hippo pools, Bettie left no stone unturned in our exploration of the parks. Bettie plays a key role in the administration of the Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA) organization and we were very fortunate and grateful to have her accompany us throughout beautiful Tanzania.
Thank you Bettie for your time, your wonderful sense of humor and knowledge of this most fascinating part of the world! And most of all, we thank you for your friendship and warm hospitality. . . Ahsanta Sana, Sandy

"We honestly love giving as much visibility as we can to small, wholesome businesses who have much to offer travelers. This is that kind of story. I met Anyitike Mbuba in China at the World Tourism Marketing Summit in November of 2007. He is the partner of a company that is building luxury camps in and near the National Parks throughout Tanzania. The company's mission is to create quality lodging using local suppliers and staff. I was captured by Anyitike's unbridled enthusiasm for his work and his passion for sustainable tourism. I again met Mbuba in Tanzania, where we rekindled our friendship and I introduced him to Patrick Peartree as well as Nick Gosling, who were part of the TravelTalkMEDIA production team in Africa. His determination and intense positive nature was something I had to share with our audiences and Nick agreed to accompany Anytike on a short tour and write his story, which you can read HERE.
While we wish we could have experienced first hand the accommodations, we applaud Antike's company and we hope you will enjoy this fresh and creative message. If you are considering a trip to Tanzania, please listen to Anytike's
 interview at left."

The key to having a relaxing, fun and informative vacation in any country is having a dependable tour guide. The same is definitely true for Tanzania. Along our journey there we met some fantastic people in the tour guide industry. People that know the country inside and out. At the right is a listing of some of the tour guides we met during our trip in Tanzania, how to get in contact with them and a website if they have one. Remember, these men and women are experts in their fields and can make that memorable vacation truly a
lifetime experience.

First Impressions
By Sandy Dhuyvetter

After just arriving, I can say that my first impression of Tanzania is awe at the incredible wildlife seen from the air. Once on the ground, I was really in awe at the presence of so many exotic birds. They seem to be everywhere! I can't wait to see what else I'll discover as I visit a county that's been on my "hit list" for many, many years.

With me I have Patrick Peartree, who is always a great joy to have on any trip. Having his expertise on the radio board during the programs and his great eye behind the camera will only create more depth to the programming. Nick Gosling is also with us and will carry on his tradition of writing great articles about the places we visit and the people we meet.

Join us as we venture into the heart of Tanzania, visiting National Parks, meeting the people of Tanzania and, of course, shopping!  Along the way we'll bring you an informative, educational and fun TravelTalkRADIO program.

Safe Travels,
Sandy

Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA)
The primary role of Tanzania’s national parks is conservation. The 14 national parks, many of which form the core of a much larger protected ecosystem, have been set aside to preserve the country’s rich natural heritage, and to provide secure breeding grounds where its fauna and flora can thrive, safe from the conflicting interests of a growing human population. Tanzania National Parks(TANAPA) is also currently acquiring further land to expand certain parks and to raise the status of traditional migration corridors connecting
protected areas.

With such a perfect Location, perched on the edge of the African continent, and facing the Indian Ocean, Tanzania’s weather and climate leaves nothing to be desired. Warm and sunny days are followed by cool and balmy nights, and whether you’re on safari on the Serengeti plains or enjoying the tropical beaches of Zanzibar, the temperatures are always welcoming and gentle. Consult Weather and Climate to find out when the best times to visit are, and learn more about the monsoon winds and
seasonal rains.

The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. The essential features of climate, vegetation and fauna have barely changed in the past million years. Early man himself made an appearance in Olduvai Gorge about two million years ago. Some patterns of life, death, adaptation and migration are as old as the hills themselves.
It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back.

It's a wonderful show!"
His Excellency, Andrew Daraja, Tanzanian Ambassador to the United States.
Guest on TTRADIO 1996

It It was a pleasure for me to have the opportunity on behalf of the Tanzania Tourist Board to be part of your travel talk radio program. The live broadcast and Internet archives presented me with a unique format to reach a worldwide audience and tell the listeners about Tanzania's diverse tourism product, our cultural heritage programs and the steps that we are taking to protect the environment. I was also pleased to be able to remind listeners from all over the world, that Mt. Kilimanjaro is in Tanzania!. I look forward to being on your program in the near future."
