Sandy invites JIM SANTINI to share with our audiences the ramifications of
the new 911 commission bill passing the US congress this week. This interview is
timely and significant as the Travel Industry will become hugely affected
by the piece of legislation.

Jim has represented CrossSphere in Washington DC since 1983 . Prior to his work with CrossSphere he served four terms (1975-1983) in the U.S. Congress as the only House of Representatives member from Nevada.

Find out about the multiple levels of offerings in the bill and why it  had a long history of slow resolution by lawmakers in the US.

Besides creating a new cabinet position on the Presidential cabinet it will also offer a resolution for an antiquated US system that has failed to realize the positive economic impact and the importance of government supporting the tour and travel industry.

While in Congress, under Mr. Santini's chairmanship, the caucus let the legislative charge that produced the National Tourism Policy Act of 1981.

”The travel industry owes a big debt of gratitude to Rep. Jon Porter (R. NV) for his courageous leadership,” CrossSphere Legislative Counsel Jim Santini said. “Congressman Porter has opened the DHS door. Now, the responsibility is upon the shoulders of the industry representatives to work with the special assistant to transform the dream into reality.”

It was dismantled due to lack of funds in 1994. Since then, the United States is one of only a few countries that do not have a Minister of Tourism or an Advisor to the government.

These highly qualified individuals are dedicated to positioning and supporting industry needs. Does this bill address those needs? How do the States fit into this scheme? Jim will comment on what's next for the Travel Industry and Government Security as both industries realize that world peace and safe travel have more in common than ever.   Will this new visibility for the travel industry affect Travel Advisories for other countries? How does the Department of Homeland Security and the Presidents cabinet change from this new bill passing congress?

And finally National Tour Association takes on a new brand as it becomes CrossSphere, The Global Association of Packaged Travel. As the legal counsel for this group, Jim tells the story of the evolution to CrossSphere. I for one, believe you need this story to accompany every logo. it's a good story but not often heard.hat has not been told very often.
